During the summer transfer window, Bayern saw several loaned players depart, while Mathys Tel and Kingsley Coman moved on. Despite their silverware, Chelsea’s Achilles heel last season was their away form—seven of their nine league defeats came on the road. This year, however, they remain unbeaten after four matches, recording two wins and two draws. They opened with a goalless stalemate against Crystal Palace before back-to-back wins over West Ham and Fulham, but were held 2–2 by Brentford in their most recent outing.
The betting market has opened with Bayern favored at -0.75 goals, reflecting the expectation of a close but tilted contest in Munich. In terms of squad value, the two sides are evenly matched: Bayern’s squad is worth €905 million compared to Chelsea’s €1.08 billion. Historically, Bayern have been far more consistent on the European stage, qualifying for 25 of the last 26 editions of the Champions League, including 18 in a row. Notably, they eliminated Chelsea in the Round of 16 in 2020 with back-to-back victories.
With their home fortress, strong league form, and historical edge, Bayern appear well-positioned to secure another important victory against the Blues.
