Paris Saint-Germain have ruled Ligue 1 since the 2012–2013 season, and last year they once again proved their superiority. PSG sealed the French league title with six games to spare, completing a fourth consecutive Ligue 1 triumph. Even more impressively, the Parisians stormed through the UEFA Champions League, demolishing Inter Milan 5–0 in the final to lift their first-ever European crown. With that, they achieved a historic treble: Ligue 1, French Cup, and Champions League.

In June, PSG went on to participate in the Club World Cup, defeating powerhouses Bayern Munich and Real Madrid on their way to the final. However, they fell short against Chelsea, losing 3–0 and finishing runners-up. Still, their dominance remains undeniable. This season, PSG have picked up right where they left off, winning all four of their league matches so far to sit atop the table with 12 points.

Atalanta, meanwhile, finished third in Serie A last season with 74 points, securing Champions League qualification. Interestingly, they were even stronger away from home, collecting 42 points on the road—10 more than they earned at home. Their away record included more wins and fewer losses than in Bergamo, making them the league’s best traveling side. This season, Atalanta have started with one win and two draws from three matches, placing them seventh. After two opening stalemates against Pisa and Parma, they finally showcased their attacking firepower in a 4–1 victory over Lecce.

Looking at the betting market, the opening handicap line favored PSG at -1.5 goals, later adjusted to -1.25. While market confidence in PSG has dipped slightly, the gap in squad quality remains immense. PSG boast a squad valued at €1.07 billion compared to Atalanta’s €449 million—more than double. Historically, PSG also have the edge, famously coming from behind to defeat Atalanta 2–1 in the 2020 Champions League quarterfinals.

Form and momentum strongly point toward the French champions. With four straight league wins and red-hot attacking displays, PSG look set to continue their dominance, while Atalanta’s mixed start raises doubts about their ability to withstand such firepower.
