Manchester Evening News: Manchester City Face Grueling Schedule

September 5th News – In the first three rounds of the new Premier League season, Manchester City only managed a 4-0 win over Wolves in the opener, before suffering back-to-back defeats to Tottenham and Brighton. As a result, they currently sit in the lower half of the Premier League table. According to the Manchester Evening News, City will face a grueling run of fixtures after the international break.

Following the break, Manchester City will host their local rivals Manchester United in the fourth round of the Premier League. United, with one win, one draw, and one loss from their opening three games, have collected four points and are placed in the upper half of the table, slightly better off than the Blues.

Just days later, on Thursday, September 15th local time, City will play their Champions League group stage opener against Serie A champions Napoli, a side featuring former City talisman Kevin De Bruyne. Napoli have made a strong start in Serie A, winning their first two matches without conceding a goal.

That weekend, City will travel to the Emirates Stadium to face Arsenal, where they suffered a heavy 5-1 defeat last season. In other words, following the international break, Manchester City are set for a demanding week with three matches in quick succession against Manchester United, Napoli, and Arsenal.
