Slovakia will be without two key players, defender Bero and midfielder Suslov, due to injury. The most high-profile name in the squad is Napoli midfielder Lobotka, while veteran defender Pekarík has also been called up in hopes of boosting the team’s morale.

Germany coach Julian Nagelsmann has handed Augsburg goalkeeper Dahmen his first call-up. Star defender Rüdiger returns to the squad, while Liverpool midfielder Wirtz remains the key figure in attack. New Newcastle signing Woltemade will continue to lead the line up front.

Slovakia’s overall strength is limited, and with key absences, even home advantage is unlikely to help. Germany may not be as dominant as in past years, but against Slovakia, their quality and big-tournament experience should still give them a clear edge.

Recommended pick: Away win
